Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, and the late Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, were close friends. Oda has openly expressed his love for Toriyama’s work and has even credited Toriyama with revolutionizing the manga industry. As a child, Oda was inspired by Toriyama’s work and has said that Toriyama is his biggest influence. Today, we’ll be looking at 10 instances where both series were acknowledged.

Cross Epoch is a collaborative work between Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama. It is a crossover story featuring characters from both One Piece and Dragon Ball.

“Dragon Ball Z x ONE PIECE: Battle Experience Gomu Gomu no Kamehameha With Your Voice You Can Call Me Up” is a crossover TV plugin game released by Bandai as part of the Let’s! TV Play series. Its release commemorated the fortieth anniversary of Shonen Jump.
In chapter 95 of Dragon Ball Super, Krillin can be seen sporting a “One ☮︎ (Peace)” shirt. If it wasn’t already clear based on his ringtone, this easter egg is an obvious reference to the One Piece franchise.

Eiichiro Oda has been a fan of Dragon Ball ever since he was a young boy. In fact, without Dragon Ball we would have never gotten One Piece and many other popular Shōnen.
To finish off this list, we’re taking things back to 2007. One Piece 10th Treasures is a special collectors book released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of One Piece. It features an entire section dedicated to One Piece art done by other manga artists in their art styles.
